New Townsville splash park ahead of a bumper holiday season
The G’day Group has just launched its latest investment in Queensland regional tourism, opening a $1.2 million splashpark at Discovery Parks -Townsville, just in time for peak holiday season.
The G’day Group, Australia’s largest regional accommodation network, has also recently acquired parks in Mackay and Ayr, along with the Glenview Golf Club on the Sunshine Coast.
G’day Group Chief Operations Officer Matt Lang, said the tropical oasis splashpark in Townsville would provide a great drawcard for families to head out and explore their regional backyard after being cooped up during the pandemic.
“We’re investing heavily in our QLD portfolio, and the new splashpark and waterslide gives families in particular another reason to visit Townsville,” said Matt.
The palm-fringed water feature will have splash buckets, two water slides and a stream for toy boat racing and splashing – ideal for toddlers and big kids.
The new splashpark will also be open to the community, depending on capacity, with day passes to cost $15.
“Summer delivered a bumper holiday season in the Southern parts of the country, with record numbers of people visiting holiday parks. We’re hoping for strong demand up north during the peak season too,” Matt said.
“Many are experiencing holiday parks for the first time and realising that nothing quite compares to the sense of freedom you get kicking back by the resort-style pool and watching the kids play on the waterslides all afternoon.”
“We’re seeing great enthusiasm for regional travel throughout our network – and particularly in Queensland where we are investing to improve the customer experience,’ he said.
‘In our network of more than 280 parks in some of Australia’s most beautiful and iconic tourism spots we have everything from glamping resort-style accommodation to family parks on popular touring routes. We really have all bases covered for a perfect Aussie getaway,’ said Matt.
