New Splash Park For Bunbury

BUNBURY, WA: A shipwreck-themed splash park will open at Bunbury Skyes Foreshore in late 2019 as part of a partnership between Discovery Holiday Parks and the City of Bunbury.

Adjacent to Discovery Parks – Bunbury Foreshore, the 750sqm splash park will be free for both park guests and the local community and will include over 40 water features including a giant tipping bucket and water sprays.

The new splash park will be on the west side of the Koombana Drive holiday park, with the expansion to also include over 30 new cabins and 30 new powered sites along with other park facilities.

Discovery Holiday Parks is investing over $1 million in the new park, with the City of Bunbury investing $700,000.

The City of Bunbury will also undertake works to improve traffic management, build new ablutions and change facilities and upgrade the existing playground to create a safe and vibrant precinct.

Discovery Holiday Parks will be submitting a formal development application to the City of Bunbury over the Christmas period, with the intention of commencing the development in mid-2019.

Discovery Holiday Parks Chief Operating Officer, Michaela Webster, said that the Bunbury Foreshore park is set to become a tourist hot spot in the city.

“We know that the Bunbury community has been asking for a water facility for some time, and the new park will both attract tourists and benefit people that live in the local community.”

“We are pleased to be signing a new 50-year lease with Council, which will enable us to create this exciting new splash park and expand our accommodation offering.”

Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said the partnership was the result of effective collaboration between the City and Discovery Holiday Parks.

“We are ecstatic to have reached an agreement that will benefit the Bunbury community as well as visitors to the Bunbury Geographe region,” Mayor Brennan said.

“The water splash park is another exciting element which adds immense value to the flourishing Koombana precinct and I look forward to next summer when local and visiting families can enjoy this latest attraction.”
