Holiday parks set for busiest Christmas on record
Aussie holiday parks are preparing for a bumper Christmas season with bookings already up 150% across the country according to the G’Day Group – Australia’s largest regional accommodation provider.
Border closures and restrictions mean Australians will be holidaying at home, with the state-by-state breakdown revealing:
- QLD is leading the charge with bookings up 200% compared to the same time last year
- In NSW bookings are up 180% overall, with Southern NSW particularly strong at 230%
- In WA the increase is 140% on same time last year
- SA and VIC are both currently seeing a 130% increase on same time last year.
Note: TAS and the NT are down slightly on same time last year and figures aren’t available for ACT.
Chief Executive of the G’day Group Grant Wilckens said that the population of our regions will swell dramatically as we hit school holidays.
“We’re readying for the busiest school holiday period we’ve ever seen, and while there is still accommodation available, it won’t be long until it’s hard to get a booking,” said Grant.
“Those still planning a getaway should consider booking in early to mid-December, or in late January or February for the best deals and availability”.
“It’s good to see that the bushfire affected region of Southern NSW is going to be particularly busy. This region missed out on their peak season last year due to bushfires and towns are in desperate need of the influx of visitors,” said Grant.
With every $1 spent on regional accommodation resulting in a $2 economic benefit to the regional community, Australia’s suffering regions will receive a welcome boost this Christmas.
