Discovery Parks lands 100 holiday parks cementing its place as Australia's largest provider of regional accommodation
G’day Group has today announced it is acquiring four-parks taking their Discovery Parks network to more than 100 parks, cementing its position as Australia’s largest regional accommodation provider, and setting its sights on doubling in size by 2031.
The acquisition represents a more than $40 million investment by Discovery Parks, spanning purchase and upgrade of assets.
Up to $250 million is planned for investment each year in regional Australia through further acquisitions and significant investment in flagship properties including Discovery Parks in Byron Bay, Bargara, Woodman Point, Canberra, and Cradle Mountain.
The recent acquisition of four Breeze Holiday Parks in regional Victoria, the Northern Territory and Western Australia are expected to contribute more than $50 million in annual economic benefit and support over 420 full-time jobs.
G’day Group Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Grant Wilckens said:
“As an Australian founded business, we are incredibly proud of this milestone which reflects 22 years of commitment to regional Australia.
From the ancient gorges of El Questro in the Kimberley to the vineyard landscapes of the Barossa, to the coastal shores of Byron Bay, we are committed to continuing to grow investment in regional Australia, with more than 16,600 jobs supported nation-wide, and $2 billion flowing into regional economies every year.
We are now setting our sights to double in size by 2031 with ambitions for G’day Group to become a $4.5 billion market leader.
But what we are most proud of are the experiences we help provide for the millions of Australians who continue to make Discovery Parks a part of their travel, creating memories and discovering more about their own incredible backyard."
G'day Group, majority owned by Australian Retirement Trust (ART), has continued to expand its national footprint with the support of one of Australia's largest superannuation funds.
ART’s General Manager Mid-Risk Assets, Michael Weaver, congratulated G’day Group on its 100-park milestone.
“This achievement reflects G’day Group’s commitment to growth and to delivering great experiences for visitors across Australia,” Mr Weaver said.
“As a long-term owner, Australian Retirement Trust is proud to support G’day Group’s continued expansion, helping to develop Australian regional tourism while generating strong long-term returns for our members.”
“We believe long-term ownership provides businesses with the confidence to invest, grow and innovate, and G’day Group’s success is a great example of how super can support local communities and economic growth.”
