Discovery Parks hits 90 properties and expands into the ACT with latest acquisition

G'day Group's is pleased to announce a further expansion of its national network of Discovery Parks with the acquisition of Canberra Park in the Australian Capital Territory.
The acquisition marks the company's first property in the territory and its 90th overall, establishing Discovery Parks' presence in every state and territory across Australia.
Located just 6km from Canberra's CBD, the 10-hectare property features both tourist park accommodation and the largest purpose-built group accommodation facility in Canberra, catering particularly to school groups visiting the nation's capital.
The property includes 73 powered tourist sites and extensive group accommodation facilities with capacity for more than 400 guests across 148 rooms. The acquisition also includes approximately 5 hectares of developable land, presenting significant opportunities for future expansion and additional tourism development.
G'day Group Founder and Chief Executive Officer Grant Wilckens said the acquisition represents an important milestone in the company's national growth strategy.
"We're thrilled to establish our presence in the ACT with what we believe is the premier group accommodation offering in Canberra, while also offering significant opportunity for expansion," Grant said.
"This acquisition not only gives Discovery Parks a footprint in every state and territory but also provides us with a significant opportunity to grow our group accommodation offering, particularly in the education tourism sector."
"With more than 170,000 students visiting Canberra annually pre-COVID as part of their curriculum studies, we see tremendous potential in this market as school group visitation continues to recover toward these levels."
The property, which was built in 2017, features modern facilities including a 410-person dining hall, camp kitchen, and high-quality accommodation options. Its location provides convenient access to Canberra's major attractions including Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, and Questacon.
"The property's prime location and substantial development potential align perfectly with our growth strategy. We look forward to exploring options for further development of the vacant land to meet growing demand in the market," Grant said.
The acquisition brings Discovery Parks' network to 90 holiday parks and resorts around Australia, with property assets valued at $2 billion.
