Warm Up This Winter: Cosy Nights by the Fire at Discovery Parks Across Australia
If winter’s got you dreaming of flannel, fire pits, and nights under the stars, we’ve got the perfect spot for it — or ten. From coastal hideaways to country retreats, Discovery Parks has everything you need for a warm and wonderful winter escape.
So, pack the beanies and bring the marshmallows — your crackling, toasty, low-key adventure is just a booking away.
1. Discovery Parks - Clare, SA
There’s something about the Clare Valley in winter — crisp air, quiet nights, and that satisfying crunch of leaves as you explore the region. If you’re camping across the creek, you can enjoy your very own fire pit (raised and fully enclosed, of course).
Don’t have one? No worries — you can hire one for just $10 for your whole stay. Wood is available at reception too ($20 for a 20kg bag). Pair it with a stroll along the Riesling Trail and you’ve got the ultimate winter wind-down.

2. Discovery Parks – Lake Hume, VIC
Lake views, fresh air and a fire to warm your toes — winter at Lake Hume, VIC is all about slowing down and soaking it all in. Fires are welcome here, and you can either bring your own fire pit or hire one from reception for $10 a day.
Spend your day exploring the trails or paddling on the lake (if you're brave), then settle in as the sun goes down and the stars come out.

3. Discovery Parks – Eden, NSW
Eden might be known for its whale watching, but in winter it’s also a top spot for fire-side relaxation. Fires are allowed in raised fire pits only, and you’re welcome to bring your own or hire one for $15 a day. Firewood and kindling are both available on-site too — just $20 a bag.
Sit back and enjoy the crisp evening with the sound of the ocean in the distance and a fire close by.

4. Discovery Parks – Hadspen, TAS
A peaceful spot on the outskirts of Launceston, Hadspen is a great base for exploring the Tamar Valley’s wineries or heading into town. Here, you’re welcome to bring your own raised fire pit, or hire one from reception for $10 for the duration of your stay.
Need firewood? Easy — the IGA next door has you sorted. All you need to do is gather your favourite people and settle in for a night under the stars.

5. Discovery Parks – Tannum Sands, QLD
This little gem near Gladstone allows fires in raised fire pits only — so bring your own, set it up safely, and let the good times (and marshmallows) roll. Fires by the beach? Yes please.
Whether you're exploring the surrounding coastal trails or just chilling by your site, this is a great spot to keep warm once the sun dips.

6. Discovery Parks – Port Hedland, WA
In the heart of the Pilbara, Port Hedland welcomes guests to bring their own fire pits and wood during the cooler months. There’s nothing like relaxing under the outback stars after a day exploring the town’s rich history and landscapes.
Just remember to pack everything you need — we don’t supply fire pits or firewood on site.

7. Discovery Parks – Moama West, VIC
At Moama West, we keep things toasty and tidy. Fires are permitted in chimineas only (yep — they're the stylish little ones with chimneys), and they need to be out by 11pm. Children should always be supervised — this one’s strictly an adults-do-the-fire kind of vibe.
You can hire a chiminea for $10 for your entire stay, and we’ve got kindling (free) and firewood ($20) available to get things started.

8. Discovery Parks – Margaret River, WA
Nestled in the heart of wine country, our Margaret River park doesn’t allow individual fire pits — but don’t worry, there’s a big communal one that’s perfect for swapping stories at the end of the day.
Spend the day exploring nearby wineries, then unwind in the warmth of the communal fire pit with a glass of red in hand.

9. Discovery Parks – Barossa Valley, SA
While traditional fire pits aren't allowed here, you’re welcome to bring gas fire pits and heaters, or gather around our communal fire pits located both in the main park and our adults-only glamping area.
After a day of winery-hopping, it’s the perfect place to wind down with your favourite bottle and some good company.

10. Discovery Parks – Coolwaters, Yeppoon, QLD
Fires aren’t permitted at individual sites in Coolwaters, but we’ve got you covered with not one, not two, but three communal fire pits — one near the pool, one by the treetops area, and one in the unpowered site section.
Great for families, groups or solo campers looking for a bit of warmth and connection after a day out exploring.

There’s nothing quite like the warmth of a fire on a cool winter’s night — but with that comes a bit of responsibility. Please check in with your park team before lighting up, always follow local fire regulations, and make sure your fire is supervised and safely extinguished.
Book your winter getaway now and make some fireside memories with us — the kind with chilly noses, crackling flames and plenty of stars overhead.
