Have you ever seen a mermaid in real life? Aye, you'll see them swimming in their majesty at the Aquarium of Western Australia. If that is the first you've heard of them, believe us: there are so many hidden gems to be seen around Perth.

Whether you're travelling to the city for the first time or need some tips for your next stay, discover why overseas visitors flock to the town and locals love to call it home.

Rottnest Island

Rottnest Island is essential on your trip to Perth. There are plenty of beaches for whatever holiday you're after: surfing, family play, couple's relaxation, and total seclusion. For a tour of the most photo-worthy spots on the island, go for a tour of the west end. Visit the Vlamingh Lighthouse, look out onto white sand beaches, and walk a section of the Wadjemup Trail. We know what the real highlight is: the happy and smiling quokkas that live on the island!
