Walk Warrnambool with Janet and Jackwalk
Janet and Jack are walking across Australia from Melbourne to Perth to raise money for Animal Aid Abroad Inc. They started their trek in Melbourne on 29 March and were stopped in their stride along the Great Ocean Road when COVID-19 lockdown restrictions came into effect. They have been permanent residents of our park in Warrnambool since 13 April.
Unable to continue their journey to Perth, Janet and Jack made sure they kept up their exercise and step count by walking Warrnambool every day, tallying up a total of 280kms during their stay. Their pet-friendly walking trails included:
- A 74km round trip (that’s 37km each way) from Port Fairy along the rail trails to Koriot
- Strolls along the Merri and Hopkins Rivers
- Hikes to Thunder Point and The Promenade, both located within easy walking distance of the park
Janet told Kylie (the friendly face in Warrnambool’s Front Office), that there was always one important stop that had to be included on every walk – this was a coffee shop. Janet sampled most cafes that were open in the area but was unable to find one brew that was better than the rest!
Janet loved that our holiday park was pet-friendly (sites only) and in a great location for a short stroll to the beach and a nice walk into town. She also said how friendly and laid back everyone that they met was. They were very happy that they had managed to get to Warrnambool for their COVID-19 lockdown, as there was plenty of options for things to do and see while they were here.
Janet and Jack said goodbye to Warrnambool on 13 May to continue their fundraising walk across to Perth. We wish them nothing but happy trails and hope to welcome them back to park soon.
