Their fun-loving dog, Rastus, is a fixture in the park and supervises everything that goes on, including a range of fun in-park events. From BBQs supporting local charities to animal events and more, there’s always something happening. 

The park’s stunning riverfront location makes it a great place for celebrations, and they have even hosted a number of weddings – some with unusual twists. Jane tells us, “one wedding was in the middle of the bushfires this summer, with the water bombers going overhead, and another was a 29 February leap year wedding!” 

Jane says that if there’s one thing guests must do while staying at the park, it’s catching the sunset over the Wallamba River. “It’s stunning any day of the year. Sit on the water’s edge, take a camera and some nibbles and relax as you watch the sun go down.” You might even catch a glimpse of barefoot skiers, who hit the water without skis!

While there’s plenty to see and do in Forster and surrounds, Jane tells us that ‘free fun’ can be the best way to explore the town. From walking the beautiful beaches , window shopping in the boutiques on the main street to dolphin spotting on the foreshore, local fun doesn’t have to come with a price tag.

When they aren’t working, Mick and Jane love to explore the local area with Rastus the dog in tow for beach walks, bush walks and dog training. Fishing is a favourite pastime (“or boating, if we aren’t catching anything!”) but Jane’s passion is volunteering with the local Riding for the Disabled. “I am training for my coach’s qualifications, so my down time is quite often horse related,” she says.
