Summer family fun in a holiday park invariably involves water… swimming pools, spas, slides, spray zones and even entire water parks.

So, grab your goggles, slop on the sunscreen, pull on the rashie and make sure you dive into these locations for some water fun. Discovery Parks – Lake Bonney

Lake Bonney is located in Barmera in South Australia’s Riverland region.
Not only is this park perfectly positioned on the town’s magnificent Lake Bonney where you can indulge in a huge range of water sports in the freshwater lake, it also has a waterpark! The Splash Zone has been designed to fit into its regional surroundings reflecting the beauty of the Murray River and the local citrus growers. With slides, spray zone and tipping buckets we guarantee it’s not a lemon.

This one certainly makes our list of the best swimming pools in Australian holiday parks.

Discovery Parks – Barossa

The Barossa Valley is swimming in wine – but don’t go swimming in the grape stuff! This glorious park in one of Australia’s most famous wine regions certainly has a stunning waterpark with a vineyard feel and celebrity following (the Hemsworth’s have visited) but, it also has an impressive lagoon pool. This resort-style pool is heated and is host to the annual Discovery Barossa Cup Family Sailing Race every Easter long weekend. Get involved in the nautical festivities and build your boat to set sail on the unchartered waters of our swimming pool. Will your boat sink or swim? Who cares as we know you’ll be having a ball!

Discovery Parks - Rockhampton

When it comes to holiday parks with the best swimming pools, this Queensland stunner is always going to be on the list.

Already featuring an idyllic pool set amongst tropical palms, the waterpark is just another reason to visit this summer all-year round location. Our waterpark at Rocky has been designed to ensure all kids (even the adult ones!) have a great time - older kids will spend hours going up and down on the three slides while the teeny tiny ones will be safe to splash around in a separate toddler area.

Everything’s big in Queensland – including its holiday park swimming pools.

Discovery Parks - Townsville

Heading north in search of cool pools, Townsville has the most impressive sunsets but don’t take our word for it, the image below says it all - you’ll be hanging by this resort-style pool from sunrise to sunset. The kids will launch into the crystal water from the little tunnel waterslide over and over while you relax on the sidelines catching up with some holiday reading under the shades of the palm trees. While in Townsville and still in search of water, head to the pier and water park on The Strand, as well as the local aquarium.

Come for the pool, stay for the sunset.

Discovery Parks - Byron Bay

Home to Wategos Beach, the Hemsworths and a 3m high waterslide! Our pirate ship themed water park will make you want to pack your duffle and heave ho to this idyllic location. Let the scallywags run amok and fight off the spray zone octopus until, thar she blows, and the tipping bucket dumps a booty of water all over them. It’s mutiny on the DHP Byron Bay. Blimey!

Byron Bay’s coolest pool? You be the judge.

Discovery Parks - Pambula Beach

Pambula Beach is above Eden and below Merimbula. With an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, the kids will be wearing their bathers like a summer uniform for your entire stay at Pambula Beach. Keep an eye on them from the comfort of a banana lounge or relaxing in the spa. Need a break from the pool? Well, head to the beach which is great for swimming.

Indoors? Outdoors? Spa? Beach? So many choices at Pambula Beach.

Discovery Parks - Echuca

Our waterpark has added a new paddle steamer to this charming riverside town in the form of a waterpark. With a tipping bucket, multiple spray zones, slides and a separate toddler splash zone, get ready to jump on board! Why a paddle steamer design? That’s because Echuca has a famous history, harking back to the days when paddle steamers worked the Mighty River Murray. The local Port of Echuca Discovery Centre is well worth the visit.

Discovery Parks – Geelong

While it’s great to take a cooling dip at the height of summer, our brand-new pool in Geelong can be used all year round - it's indoors AND it’s heated. It's also HUGE so there's plenty of room for pool games. The park is just an hour from Melbourne, so it's an easy road trip to come for a long weekend. Stay to see what all the fuss is about. You might even want to catch a game of AFL, with local side the Geelong Cat never far from the finals. Here’s an idea: after a chilly winter’s day at the footy, you can warm up in the pool!

When in Geelong, it’s go Cat’s, go!

The partnership between Discovery Holiday Parks and the City of Bunbury includes over 40 water features with a giant tipping bucket and spray zones galore. The shipwreck-themed area encompasses and incredible 750sqm and is part of the recently revamped Bunbury Foreshore. Discovery– Rottnest Island

Say “cheers” to the island lifestyle and resort pool with food and beverage service. That’s why it makes our list of holiday parks with the best swimming pools in Australia. This is a guests-only pool, spans 30 metres and is perfect for families. The shallow end is “beach access”, making it ideal for toddlers. The pool is surrounded with shade umbrellas and sunbeds.
