After all, who doesn’t need a little more adventure in their life? Read on to discover how you can make the most of those extra days off.

JANUARY
Days to take off:

New Year’s Day (all) – Wednesday 1:
Take off 2–3 January for a five-day holiday.

Australia Day (all) – Monday 27 (observed):
Take off 20-24 January for a 10-day holiday.

Australia Day is a celebration not to be missed in our parks. Packed with fun in-park games for the kids, sausage sizzles, and great company. Find a Discovery Parks location near you for your extended Aussie Day break!

FEBRUARY
Days to take off:

Royal Hobart Regatta Day (TAS) – Monday 10:
Take off 11–14 February for a nine-day holiday.

Based in Hobart, the Royal Hobart Regatta is back for another year, marking its 187th anniversary since the first one in 1838. Get ready for a jam-packed weekend full of sailing, rowing races, carnivals, kids' games, junior pageants, live entertainment, and more.

Now that your weekend is sorted, you just need a place to stay. Check out Discovery Parks - Hobart for the perfect base to kick-start this extended long weekend break.

MARCH
Days to take off:

Labour Day (WA) – Monday 3:
Take off Friday 28 February for a four-day weekend.

Labour Day (VIC), Canberra Day (ACT), Adelaide Cup Day (SA), 8 Hour Day (TAS) – Monday 10:
Take off Friday 7 March for a four-day weekend.

With two long weekends to choose from in March, there's no better time to escape to a Discovery Park. Whether you're after adventure or relaxation, we've got the perfect spot for you to unwind and recharge.

Why not spend Labour Day in WA soaking up the sun at Discovery Resorts – Rottnest Island? And the following weekend, whether you’re exploring wine regions in SA, unwinding by the coast in VIC, or soaking in the fresh air in Tasmania, we’ve got the perfect spot to make your long weekend one to remember.

APRIL
Days to take off:

Easter long weekend – Friday 18 April – Monday 21 April AND ANZAC Day (all) – Friday 25:

Take off 22-24 April for a ten-day holiday.

Hop into a Discovery Park this Easter break for a weekend full of chocolate, in-park activities, a park-wide Easter egg hunt, and even a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Then, swap out the chocolate for ANZAC biscuits a few days later; it’s time to remember and reflect on all those who showed bravery and sacrifice for Australia during World War I.

Discovery Parks offers a tranquil escape to relax and unwind but also to connect with the ANZAC spirit. And, if you’re lucky, there’ll still be some Easter chocolate left to enjoy!

MAY
Days to take off:

May Day (NT) and Labour Day (QLD) – Monday 5:
Take off Friday 2 May for a four-day weekend.

Those four-day weekends couldn’t come around soon enough. And lucky for you, we have Discovery Parks all over Australia, so take advantage of that built-up annual leave and enjoy some much-needed R&R time.

See our Discovery Parks in the NT and QLD

JUNE
Days to take off:

Western Australia Day (WA) and Reconciliation Day (ACT) – Monday 2:
Take off Friday 30 May for a four-day weekend.

King’s Birthday (all except QLD and WA) – Monday 9:
Take off 10–13 June for a nine-day holiday.

Keep the celebrations going with an extended break at Discovery Parks. Escape the cold and head to the Northern Territory for some fun in the sun. Or if snow is your thing, road trip to our ski parks like Discovery Parks - Jindabyne or Discovery Parks - Mount Buffalo for some adrenaline-filled adventure.

AUGUST
Days to take off:

Picnic Day (NT) – Monday 4:
Take off Friday 1 August for a four-day weekend.

Royal Queensland Show (Brisbane area only, QLD) – Wednesday 13:
Take off 14–15 August for a five-day weekend.

The best part about having a public holiday in the middle of the week is that you can take the rest of the week off! Besides, we all know Wednesday at the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) is all about the kids, so why not make the rest of the week yours?

Explore our parks and see which Discovery Park you want to stay at for your August holiday.

SEPTEMBER
Days to take off:

Friday before Grand Final Day (VIC) – Friday 26:
Take off Monday 29 September for a four-day weekend.

King’s Birthday (WA) – Monday 29:
Take off Friday 26 September for a four-day weekend.

Grand Final Day weekend is always a big one, especially if your team takes home the win. Why not treat yourself to a four-day weekend to recover and celebrate?

Check out the Discovery Parks in Victoria for your long weekend—who knows, they might even have the game on!

OCTOBER
Days to take off:

Labour Day (NSW, ACT, and SA) and King’s Birthday (QLD) – Monday 6:
Take off 7–10 October for a nine-day holiday.

We’ve officially hit one of the last (almost) nation-wide public holidays for the year, so why not make it count? Recharge and relax with a nine-day holiday before the silly season begins.

See our Discovery Parks in NSW, SA, and QLD for some holiday inspiration.

NOVEMBER
Days to take off:

Recreation Day (TAS location dependent) – Monday 3:
Take off 4–7 November for a nine-day holiday.

Melbourne Cup Day (VIC) – Tuesday 4:
Take off 3 November and 5–7 November for a nine-day holiday.

This sounds like a Victoria-to-Tassie road trip to me! It would be rude not to take that nine-day holiday, celebrating Melbourne Cup Day in style in Victoria before jumping on the ferry to Tassie. Enjoy their incredible selection of cider or wine, delicious local food, and unique wildlife.

Check out accommodation in Tasmania and Victoria to start planning your adventure.
