The Ovens River is dammed at Bright and Porepunkah from around Christmas to Easter to create long cool river swimming pools. A lifeguard is on duty in the afternoon most days during summer at the pool in River Reserve Porepunkah. A children’s paddling pool on the nearby riverbanks gives the whole family a chance to enjoy the water.
