Hang on - a dip in a pool in the cooler months? Certainly not except Yarrangobilly Caves thermal pool, fed by a natural spring, is permanently heated to 27ºC all year round, making it perfect for a swim in the cooler months! Take a dip in the thermal pool, sit back and soak in the surreality of swimming in winter!.

Jindabyne is most popularly known as the base for all snow activities due to its proximity to Thredbo. But if you’re not keen on outdoor sports like skiing, and snowboarding, there’s still plenty to do - like building a snowman, or taking in the snowscape around you while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

Get cosy indoors and indulge in Jindabyne’s local food and wine scene. For more casual dining after a long day of adventures, head to Trader Joe’s Garage - Cafe conveniently located next door to Discovery Parks - Jindabyne.

Alternatively, pop into Wildbrumby Schnapps for something a little different. A local, award-winning distiller of schnapps, vodka, and gin, Wildbrumby serves Austrian-inspired meals in their restaurant. If you’re dining in, be sure to take some time to stroll around their sculpture garden curated with artwork designed for reflection and contemplation of the world around us.

Bring your own bike or hire one from Snow Sports link not working to explore the region on two-wheels. There are plenty of tracks at the Thredbo Mountain Bike Park suited for every type of cyclist: beginner, intermediate, and advanced (gnarly rides) so take your pick according to your level and skills!

Mountain biking a little too adventurous? With light traffic load and quality road surfaces, road cycling is relatively safe within the Snowy Mountain region. Ride at your own pace and take in the breathtaking landscape along the Lake Jindabyne Foreshore Trail. This trail begins from Discovery Parks - Jindabyne and is a 7km ride along a sealed track.

Fishing is a popular activity to enjoy at Lake Jindabyne

River and lake fishing is one of the more popular activities in this region during the warmer season. The snow from the cold winter melts and flows to fill the waterways, bringing an abundance of life back to the environment.

Snowy Mountains in Summer is the perfect time to experience the magical landscape on foot. After all, it’s the perfect opportunity to take in the fresh, crisp mountain air in the great outdoors. 

The Snowy Mountains region is known for its network of walking and hiking trails for all ages and abilities. One of the more popular walks is the Kosciuszko Walk - take the chair lifts from Thredbo to ascend to the top of Mt Kosciuszko and start your journey there. At 2,228m above sea level, Mt Kosciuszko is Australia’s highest peak, so you’ll be rewarded with a spectacular and unforgettable view when you reach the summit.

Always want to experience how it’d feel like being “The Man From Snowy River” in Kosciuszko National Park? Well, you can have a taste of it. Go on a horseback adventure through some of the world’s most picturesque plains and valleys. Ride with experienced local guides chaperons through Australia’s high country. 

If you’re lucky you may also catch a glimpse of a pack of wild brumby horses while taking in the stunning backdrop of Lake Jindabyne. There’s nothing quite like it!
