Us too, which is why we've put together this month-by-month guide to inspire you and get you out there exploring your backyard this year. 

Give yourself something to look forward to each month and plan your 2020 holiday itinerary with these suggestions.

JANUARY

Before the school holidays end, take the family on a summer holiday to Discovery Parks – Pambula Beach. FEBRUARY

Adelaide isn’t known as the Festival State for no reason. It’s definitely the place to be in March with days and nights, parklands and theatres coming alive with performers from all over the world.

There are hundreds of events in the capital, as well as regional centres, with Adelaide Festival, Adelaide Fringe, The Garden of Unearthly Delights, Superloop Adelaide500 Concert Series, Writers’ Week, WOMADelaide; you’ll quickly realise why the month is affectionately named Mad March. In between all the festivities, don’t forget to indulge in South Australia’s impressive food & wine scene with a taste to satisfy every tongue. APRIL  

Keep the musical holiday vibes going with a stay at Discovery Parks – Byron Bay to indulge in Bluesfest over the Easter long weekend (Thursday 9 April to Monday 13 April 2020). This family-friendly event showcases blues & roots music from around the world with 200 performers playing across multiple stages over the 5 days. Who knows, you may even spot a Hemsworth playing air-guitar in the crowd. Mellow out in the region post-concert with a surf day at Watergos Beach, shopping at the community markets for local designer wares or hike to the lighthouse for stunning views of the ocean and hinterland.

MAY   

The weather is cooling down so time to start your winter adventure to the top end of Australia and chase the sun. Whether you’re driving the Big D (West to East) or Little d (through the middle to the west), you won’t want to bypass Discovery Parks – Broome to witness the natural phenomenon of Staircase to the Moon. This spectacular sight occurs from March to November where the full moon rises over Roebuck Bay to create the illusion of a ‘staircase’ leading from the beach directly to the moon. Just make sure you time your stay, as the ‘staircase’ is only visible during the full moon days of each month. JUNE    

It’s the last long weekend until October so make the most of it with a visit to the Apple Isle. Cross Bass Strait and discover Tasmania with a road trip exploring national parks, a thriving food and wine scene as well as cultural and contemporary art with Dark Mofo Festival in conjunction with Mona Museum. Stay at Discovery Parks - Hobart and indulge in this thought-provoking, captivating and often confronting arts festival. JULY   

In mid-July to late October, Hervey Bay provides one of the best vantage points to see humpback whales on their annual migration from Antarctica. Stop over for a few days at Discovery Parks – Fraser Street, Hervey Bay to tick another resolution off your 2020 bucket-list while you relax and play with these majestic mammals. If you’re really adventurous, book a tour to swim with the whales to get super up-close and personal with these inquisitive sea creatures. And, don’t forget to get a quick language lesson in whale from Dory so you can communicate with them; who knows what secrets of the deep they may have to share!

AUGUST

Never seen snow before and want to build a snowman? SEPTEMBER  

It’s got the MasterChef Australia tick off approval so why wouldn’t you head West and kick off Spring in the Swan Valley. The oldest wine region in WA is just a 25-minute drive from Discovery Parks – Perth Airport. Head to wine country and take in a crisp chardonnay in the Spring sunshine accompanied by a long degustation lunch or some good old pub grub. DECEMBER

The first day of summer and your focus has no doubt shifted to holidays and the festive season.
