WATCH: Savour local flavours at Cupitt's Winery

If you’re stopping by Ulladulla on your way up the coast, Cupitt’s is a treasure trove of delicious delights not to be missed. Tucked away in the valleys just five minutes from Ulladulla township, the family-owned winery, brewery, restaurant and cheesery is a scrumptious example of the high quality local produce in the region.

“We’re a bit of a hidden gem,” says manager Libby Cupitt. “I don’t think people really realise we have this beautiful outlook here, out on to the beautiful vineyards, pastures, cattle grazing, Lake Burrill, the Budawang Ranges and Pigeon House Mountain. We have the most amazing sunsets here, too.”

Cupitt's wineryBeginning as a restaurant and cellar door in 2007, the business has expanded to include a cheesery and brewery recently. “We get the milk from a local dairy around the corner, and we make all the beer and wine here, too.”

Even the food in the restaurant is local, with many of the vegetables and herbs coming from their own gardens. “We have about 65 different fruits, herbs and veggies growing here,” Libby says. “You can taste our paddock-to-plate menu inside the restaurant or enjoy the casual menu outside where we don’t require reservations.”

You really can enjoy this beautiful property however you like. Try a tasting in the cellar door, buy a glass and enjoy the views from the deck, stay a little while longer with a platter or a pizza, or linger for lunch in the beautiful restaurant. You can also take one of their popular tours, which allow you access to the whole property. Head into the wine cellar dug into the hill, try their wine, cheese and beers straight from the barrels, kegs and cheese rooms, visit the kitchen garden and learn all about how this family business is as sustainable as they can be. “We also run a sunset tour on weekends that goes into the evening.”

With the family dog roaming the property and plenty of grass for kids to explore and play, Cupitt’s is also a wonderful option for families. “We’re very much about families here,” Libby says. “Dogs are welcome, too.”

G’DAY team tip: If you’re here for a couple of days, make sure to take the tour to learn all about the place, and come back for a sip at sunset - the view really is well worth the second trip. Ensure you take some wine and cheese home with you, too (they even sell mini Cupitt’s coolers to keep your cheese cool).

Cupitt’s is open 7 days a week, with their ‘Tour and Taste’ tours operating at 11am each day, $40 per person. Bookings recommended. For more details, visit the website.
