Cool Down in one of These 10 Swimming Pools

25 Jan 2019

Have you heard it's been hot lately? As in, all over the news hot? Could fry an egg on a pan type of sweltering? When they say it's cooking, they mean it this time.

Summer is kicking it's feet up to stay a little while longer - we're not complaining. More sunshine means more pool time (just lather on the zinc).

It is amazing how long kids can spend in the pool before tiring out. Hours pass and they're still playing Marco Polo. Aren't they bored yet? But no, they're having the time of their lives and parents are enjoying the peace.

Our holiday parks have some pretty flash swimming pools that families love. If you're due for a cool down, here are some parks to bob around in on your next holiday.

Barossa Valley, SA

Top Pools at Discovery Parks

There are a couple of pools here you can set yourself up around. Our couples only, exclusive Safari Tent area is a little oasis in the Barossa Valley. From your air-conditioned comfort in a glamping tent, you can look out to where you'll spend the rest of your afternoon: this gorgeous pool. In the main area of the park, we also have a resort-style pool that has some exciting new features: a new water purification system that allows children with allergies to join in on the summer fun.

You're in luck! On top of the range of accommodation (re: Safari Tents), there's a swimming pool with a slide (for the kiddies) and a shaded area to lie down with your towel on the grass (for you).

Robe, SA

Top pools at Discovery Parks

Robe, set on the Limestone Coast, is a no-brainer for summer in South Australia. Local craft beer, four-wheel driving adventures, and our brand new cabins are a few things that you'll love. The best part about the swimming pool here is the respite from the heat. Sometimes, it really is just too hot outside, or sometimes it's the middle of winter and we want to close our eyes and pretend it's sunny season all over again. Discovery Parks - Robe has an indoor heated swimming pool with a toddler area for the nose-pickers.

Still want to get outside? The nature playground is a goodie.

You can easily while away the hours watching the kids pedal past, swim in the pool, splash around the waterpark, or bounce on the jumping pillow. Forget about infinity pools. Try this for a change - a view at sunset looking out over Lake Hume. If we're honest with ourselves, we know swimming pools are always better with a backdrop. Ballina, NSW

Top pools at Discovery Parks

You might have seen this little town on our round-up of the top 10 places to discover in 2019. Here's another reason you should visit Ballina: to rest and recharge in the pool. There's even a place for the tiny tots to play, too at the water play park (perfect for ages 0 to 5). Venture outside the park to tick off one of Australia's most iconic big things: the sacred Big Prawn. Is a gigantic prawn in a coastal town famous for its seafood a coincidence? We think not!

Townsville, QLD

Top pools at Discovery Parks

We were lucky enough to welcome this park into the Discovery Parks family last year. We love the dry tropics, offering ideal holiday weather throughout the year (leave those sweaters back in the drawer). The resort-style pool even has a fun bonus feature: a little tunnel waterslide. But is a holiday without Scruff just not the same? At Discovery Parks - Townsville, pets can stay with you on sites! While the pool is for humans only, the family pup can definitely take part in a much-deserved break.
