Kids in Adelaide: Adelaide Beachfront Review

12 Apr 2017

Kids In Adelaide are the experts on helping you find the fun and exciting things to do around Adelaide with the little ones. They go out to the must-see spots to find the best playgrounds, cafes, restaurants, events and activities for families young and old. Bringing a wealth of knowledge of the area, they aim to keep parents and carers updated with what's on.

We were lucky to recently have Roxy from Kids in Adelaide at our park, and she shared her two cents on our holiday park in Semaphore. Read on to find out more!

This April I was lucky enough to spend a couple of nights on a “mini break” at Discovery Parks – Adelaide Beachfront down at Semaphore.

I have to admit, I had to rely on the trusty GPS to get me there. Semaphore is a place I haven’t been to in a LONG time. I was expecting it to take much longer to get there actually so I was surprised when only around 45 minutes after we left the Adelaide Hills, we pulled up to the entrance of the park…..far enough to feel like we were going somewhere new, not far enough to get any moans of travel boredom from the back seat!

The park is located at 349 Military Road right next to Fort Glanville and only a walk to the beach as well as only a short drive to the maritime, railway and aviation museums, the Esplanade with its playgrounds, carousel, walking/bike track and plenty of prime picnic spots and Semaphore Road’s funky cafes and shops. There really is a lot to do for kids and families down this way. The location is a BIG bonus for this park. Oh and here’s a tip, if you’re looking for a family friendly place to eat we went to The Exeter on Semaphore Rd one night for dinner and it was fantastic, especially with their Kids Eat Free deal from Sunday – Thursday.

Discovery Parks – Adelaide Beachfront has a range of cabin options to suit all sizes and budgets, as well as powered and powered ensuite sites for camping and caravanning. Cabins start from just over $100 a night so you don’t have to break the bank for a weekend stay. We spent two nights in one of the park’s brand new superior cabins which can sleep up to 6 people in 2 rooms (King Split beds + 2 sets of bunks).

With our holiday group of 3 adults and 1 child we were more than comfortable and the fully equipped kitchen with full size fridge, microwave and gas cooktop was great for us to be able to do a little food shop and have all the essentials there to go…..and by essentials I mean cereal, milk, snacks and of course a nice cold bottle of wine for the end of the day!

Apart from its fantastic beachside location, the park also has plenty to keep the kids busy. My 4 year old had a great time on the jumping pillow and playground, and also braved the cold mornings with a mini dip in one of the two pools. I can imagine on a hot Adelaide summer day the pools would come in very handy!
