Dreaming of year-round pleasant temperatures and a dip in the water? Lucky us, we have a park nestled perfectly at your next getaway: Discovery Parks - Tannum Sands. There are so many things to see and do, you'll be ready to hit the hay in our accommodation at the end of your days filled with beach, sun, fishing, and markets.

1. Lake Awoonga

Open for fishing throughout the year, Lake Awoonga is conveniently located a short drive away from our park. If you'd prefer other water activities, the tranquil waters are perfect for skiing, canoeing, sailing and swimming. After a morning on the water, go bushwalking or birdwatching around the lake - plenty of wildlife and plants to take photos of. 

2. Wild Cattle Island

A set of two islands just off of the coast, Wild Cattle Island is a secluded, beautiful national park. See for yourself the vast array of wildlife living on (and around in the water!) the islands. Prepare for green turtles, a range of birds, and a vine forest. 

3. Beach Arts Music Markets

Held on the first Saturday of every month, the Beach Arts Music Markets (or BAM) is a free community-organised event held on the Millenium Esplanade. Walk along the seaside, taste delicious treats at the food stalls, listen to live music and visit the arts booths. It's a perfect family-friendly experience by the water. 

4. Turtle Way Bike and Walking Trail

Winding along the Boyne River, experience the Gladstone area through a bike ride or stroll on the Turtle Way trail. Over 18km over scenic views next to a tranquil river, a casual ride on a sunny day on this trail will surely make your trip! 

5. Spinnaker Park

Hey, pass the frisbee over here! A family friendly destination and a relaxed space to walk your dog, Spinnaker Park is a popular and scenic location in Gladstone. With winding paths along the shore, a beach, and views of dolphins in the water, set your sights at Spinnaker for your picnic lunch. Don't want to prepare the sammies? Have a bite at the Spinnaker Park cafe - food is fabulous, prices are reasonable. 

6. Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum

Gladstone has it all, even art. For over thirty years, the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum has been committed to promoting and showcasing the work of artists from Gladstone region. Photography, art produced by young artists, and paintings can be found in the halls. Don't forget to walk around both the permanent and changing exhibitions about the rich heritage of the Gladstone region.
