The Bandiana Army Museum houses a magnificent display of Australia’s military history. Located on the Gaza Ridge Barracks, the museum provides an extensive display of military medals and uniforms, armoured vehicles, and anti-aircraft and field guns. Open Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 4.30pm (excluding some major holidays).

Home to Jack Riley, a local stockman who it’s claimed was the inspiration for the famous Banjo Patterson poem ‘The Man from Snowy River’; Corryong is worth the hour and 30 minute drive for The Man from Snowy River Museum. It provides interesting insight into this local legend and the history of the region.

You can Ride or Walk though some of the best country areas with the High Rail Trail which traverses farmland near the shores of Lake Hume and forest further up at Shelley, as well as Huon Reserve ,Tallangatta and Derbyshire. The trail is undulating with some moderate gradients. The Derbyshire to Shelley section is all uphill at the steepest gradient trains could manage. Trail surface is of varying quality.
