Just short of a mountain, Castle Hill is a giant pink monolith standing right in the heart of Townsville! Slip on your joggers, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat and trek to the top of Castle Hill to experience breathtaking, nearly 360 degree, panoramic views of Townsville! Amazing photo opportunities at sunrise and sunset! Don't worry though, if you are not so keen on some heart-pumping excercise, Castle Hill also offers vehicle access to the top.
As well as a tourist attraction in modern times, Castle Hill also offers an interesting military link to the past. The hill's vantage point was used by visiting American soldiers during World War II, with a World War II observation point standing on one corner of the hill!
