Gerroa is yet another incredible part of our southern stretch of coast. The rolling green hills, perfect sunrises, uncrowded surf breaks, nearby waterfalls and crystal clear coves. The most laid-back, convenient and tranquil place to stay when visiting Gerroa is the Discovery Park, set right on the banks of the pristine Crooked River.
Upon arrival at Gerroa Discovery Park, we were immediately greeted with the most friendly and helpful staff, offering us all we needed on the park and the surrounding area.
We were lucky enough to stay in one of the Deluxe Riverside Villas. This immaculate and spacious villa with a beautiful timber deck overlooking the river made our stay a special one. We had two bedrooms, two bathrooms and large kitchen, lounge and dining area.
We spent our morning lazing around the river on our doorstep, swimming and relaxing in the tranquil setting. We then wandered down to the beach at the end of our road and swam in the crystal clear waters of the inlet, followed by an afternoon surfing the most beautiful waves we have ever seen! All of this topped off with a vibrant sunset over the rugged mountains which hug the coastline. We were left feeling pretty lucky to have all of this right on our doorstep for the next few days. To top off a great day we cooked dinner on our deck BBQ at our villa, overlooking the moonlit Crooked River.
We woke up before the sun, excited for a new day ahead in this beautiful place. We took a walk along the Crooked River within the park as the sun rose, then enjoyed a few morning laps in the refreshing pool. We then took a short drive to Macquarie Pass National Park where we took an incredible hike along the rainforest stream to a series of cascading waterfalls. We even had the place to ourselves. We also stopped in at Minniamurra Falls.
We feel very lucky to have been greeted by such kind and helpful staff when visiting Gerroa Discovery Park. Everything you need is right in front of you when staying in this park. We are looking forward to our next stay in Gerroa. Thanks guys!
