It is beautifully nestled between the Tamar River and the scenic Cataract Gorge at the beginning of the magnificent Tamar Valley. Founded in 1805, whilst Launceston has grown into a dynamic and vibrant city, it has managed to retain much of its heritage, architecture and streetscapes.
A visit to Launceston and the surrounding region offers a rich cultural heritage with galleries and museums, vineyards and rich agricultural lands. In the extreme, you will not be disappointed with the quiet wildlife haven and national parks, waterways and spectacular and crashing waterfall.
