Nestled on the beautiful Derwent River, Hobart offers an extensive range of activities and attractions for the whole family.  Just 20 minutes from Hobart, the summit of Mount Wellington offers stunning views of Hobart, Bruny Island and the Tasman Peninsula, with bushwalking trails for all fitness levels.

Each Saturday, the bustling Salamanca Markets comes alive with local produce and handcrafts available, while nearby Constitution Dock, the finishing line of the annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, offers a wide selection of cafes and restaurants.

Nestled in the Coal River Valley just 30 minutes from Hobart, the historic town of Richmond features Australia’s oldest bridge, Richmond Bridge, built by convicts in 1823.

Named 2008 and 2009 Best Heritage Tourism Experience in Australia by Gourmet Traveller Magazine, the Port Arthur Historic Site offers a rich insight into Australia’s convict past.  Set on 40 hectares featuring 30 buildings, extensive ruins and beautiful gardens, this World-Heritage listed site offers a full day of sightseeing, just 1 and a half hours from Hobart.

WHATS ON IN HOBART


DISNEY LIVE! MICKEY'S MUSIC FESTIVAL
These summer holidays, Mickey Mouse and his band of friends will perform in the musical extravaganza Disney Live! Mickey's Music Festival. Joined by Disney Favourites Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and Disney/Pixar's Toy Story, this fun-filled concert experience is sure to entertain the whole family.
To be held 04 February to 06 February 2012 at the Derwent Entertainment Centre.

MS FEST 2012
2012 will see the annual music festival move from Launceston to Hobart. This annual music festival raises money for people in Tasmania living with Multiple Sclerosis.
To be held 03 March 2012 at the T.C.A. Grounds in Hobart.

Salamanca market: Every Saturday from 8.30 to 3 pm
Shuttle bus to and from the market is available for a small cost. Only 5 minutes walk from the city, experience Australia’s best outdoor market. You will find a variety of Tasmanian art & crafts to tempt you. From locally grown organic foods, stylish clothing, and beautifully crafted Tasmanian timber pieces.

MONA-Museum of Old and New Art FREE ENTRY Open daily from 10 am till 6 pm 655 Main Road Berriedale, Hobart
What was previously a small collection of antiquities has been transformed into a three-level, underground, multimedia museum of installations, paintings, light shows, mummies and African art, all of which is free to the public.

ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING

Clarence Mountain Bike Trail:
Under 5 minutes drive from the park, the Clarence Mountain Bike Park offers a range of experiences for novice through to experienced mountain bikers.
The park includes dirt jumps, mountain cross, dual slamon, downhill and a cross country track.
The park is accessed from a car park off Flagstaff Gully Link Rd in Mornington (near the exit to the Tasman Highway) and entry is free.

Port Arthur: Follow the convict trail through picturesque Richmond to the Tasman Peninsula where you will find the historical site of Port Arthur. With 40 hectares and over 30 restored buildings, ruins and beautiful gardens to explore make sure you bring your comfortable walking shoes.

Cadbury Chocolate Factory: For all those chocoholics out there, your supply awaits you.

Huon Valley: Come and explore this beautiful region that includes the Tahune AirWalk and experience an exhilarating view of the Tahune Forest 20 metres above the ground, or stroll along some of the many walks which includes two large swing bridges. For a little more excitement try soaring through the canopy on the Eagle Glide hang gliding adventure. A visit to the Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs and a ride on the Ida Bay Railway will finish of a very enjoyable day.

Bruny Island: Drive yourself or take a tour, home to boutique food offerings including a berry farm, Cheese Company, Oyster Farm, Chocolate & Fudge tasting, and vineyards all to tempt your taste buds. Take walks along many of the tracks of varying degrees, to explore the diversified land marks around the island. A full day of activities awaits you.
