Discovery Holiday Parks
Longreach, Outback, QLD
Overview
Whilst Queensland is best known for her beautiful sandy beaches and coastal wildlife, Queensland also has some spectacular outback that should not be missed. And the perfect place to start is at the legendary town of Longreach. Located some 1,181km north west of Brisbane, Longreach and its surrounding district support the sentiment of a 'wide, brown land'.
A visit to Longreach provides a wealth of history and heritage. It is home to a variety of man-made and natural wonders, with the home of the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and the Qantas Founders Outback Museum being two popular attractions.
But it is the unique outback activities that you can participate in that really get you in the spirit; take a horse and coach ride, visit a real working sheep station, laze in the shade of a coolibah tree, join campfires and hear poetry from locals, try and whistle on a gum leaf, catch a yellowbelly... or you could just find a comfy spot and do nothing for a while!
Discovery Holiday Parks - Longreach is famous for its Woolshed open April to September. Bookings are necessary for the dinner available varying nights followed by desserts and tea or coffee. Equipped with a licensed bar, the Woolshed is the perfect place to relax and enjoy some fireside entertainment.
