Gracemere SaleYards

The Gracemere Saleyards is situated 8 kilometres west of Rockhampton. The Gracemere Saleyards was later controlled by the Rockhampton District Saleyards Board that was formed during 1949. The Gracemere Saleyards have sold a wide number of cattle including the Brahman breeds to Central Queensland. Rockhampton Gracemere Exhibition Complex that was operated by Gracemere Saleyards constructed twelve pens to cater these Brahmans breeds. The number of cattle increased to 200,000.

Gracemere Saleyards were involved in selling the cattle through ring operations. During this sale, the buyers were placed around the ring bidding on cattle with the auctioneers. The Gracemere Saleyards was improvised later and it included the Rockhampton Gracemere Exhibition Complex, a new veterinary dip and crush, a new double Decker unloading facility, 80 new concrete selling pens, a camp drafting arena, an undercover small stock selling facility, 40 receivable yards, NLIS scanning facilities and 50x80m undercover arena.

The Gracemere Saleyards play important role in marketing venues for the auction system formed by them. It also acts as an educational venue for comparing cattle breeds or conducting competitions. It is also ideal for carrying out different techniques for conditioning of cattle for market and breeding.

Cattle sales are held every week, we have attractive accommodation packages for the discerning grazier heading to town.
