Things to See & Do

Kroombit Tops National Park

Home to the endangered Kroombit Tinker Frog. Discover sandstone cliffs, waterfalls and lookouts and see the final resting place of a World War II B24D Liberator bomber which crashed in 1945, claiming all on board.

Mount Scoria

Once the core of a volcano, Mount Scoria is a rare 150 metre rock formation. Long six-sided basalt columns on top of the mountain project outward like fingers and when struck with another rock, they produce a delightfully musical sound.

Cania Gorge

A spectacular backdrop of sandstone cliffs, caves, eucalypt forests and dry rainforest on sheltered slopes teeming with natural wonders.

Lake Callide (Callide Dam)

A delightful space to relax and enjoy a myriad of bird life, including majestic

pelicans and swans, along with water skiing and excellent Barramundi fishing, Part of the Bass to Barra Trail, Australia’s only impound freshwater sports fishing trail.

Callide Lookout

This beautiful lookout just past the Callide Power Station offers impressive views of local industrial giants. View the mining operations at Callide Mine, the enormity of the power station and Lake Callide.

Greycliffe Homestead and Museum

The original slab home of one of the Callide Valley’s finest families, over a century old, housing an interesting variety of memorabilia. Open for public inspection by appointment (Phone 07 4992 2405).
