Kosciuszko Express Chairlift

The scenic chairlift is open 365 days a year. The Kosciuszko Express Chairlift is 1.8km long and rises 560 vertical metres.
The ride takes 15 minutes one way and offers spectacular valley views as you are lifted to the closest access point to Mount Kosciuszko.


Thredbo Bobsled

The Thredbo Bobsled is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
With 700m of luge style track the bobsled twists and turns its way down the mountain whilst you control the speed with a brake on your cart.
It's great fun for all the family.
To ride the bobsled on your own you must be 9 years of age or older and over 130cms tall. For the kids under 9 you double up with a responsible adult.

Thredbo Golf Course

Play a round of golf on Australia's highest course

The nine hole, AGU rated course is bordered by the Thredbo river and has unique and challenging features such as the snake pit and Wally Wombat's House. Winding along the Thredbo River and around the base of mountain this course is a pleasure to play. It is dotted with wildflowers, lined with eucalyptus and it has a little bit of everything providing even seasoned golfers with unique challenges.

The course is home to 1 x Par 5 hole, 4 x Par 4 holes, 4 x Par 3 holes with each hold offering a different spectacular view of Thredbo Valley and its surrounding Alpine peaks.

Murray 1 Visitors Centre – Alpine Way
Murray 1 Power Station is the second largest power station in the Snowy Mountains Scheme. There are 10 turbines at Murray 1, each capable of producing enough electricity to supply over 95,000 houses.

Next to the power station is the Murray 1 Visitors Centre. This centre offers an exciting interactive experience with a wide range of displays, “hands on”models and exhibits.

There are BBQ and picnic areas by the water that are open to the public. Light refreshments are available in the Cafe.

Entry, activities and picnic areas are free of charge.

The Murray 1 Visitors Centre is located only 15 minutes from Khancoban on the Alpine Way. There is designated public visitor parking. Visitors are requested to follow visitor signage and parking instructions at the power station.

The Alpine Way is steep and winding in places and motorists are advised to take care and drive to the weather and road conditions, while making your way along one of the most spectacular drives in Australia.

If travelling from Cooma, Jindabyne or Thredbo, please allow sufficient time for your journey, especially during winter.

Also located only a couple of minutes from the centre of Khancoban are the Khancoban Dam release gates where the water from the Scheme is released into the Swampy Plains River and then into the Murray River for irrigation. An impressive location that is well worth a look.

Talbingo Visitor Display
The Snowy Mountains Scheme Talbingo Visitor Display is located at the Talbingo Shopping Centre and provides information on Tumut 3 Power Station. There are also a number of displays and models on the Snowy Mountains Scheme.

This visitor display will be open 7 days a week between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm. Entry is free.

For those visitors wishing to experience the Scheme first hand, Murray 1 Power Station Public Inspections are available. Murray 1 Power Station is located on the Alpine Way, 10 kilometres east of Khancoban. Power Station Inspections will occur at 11:00am and 2:00pm, and take approximately 20 minutes. Entry to the power station and Murray 1 Information Centre is also free of charge.
