3 Jun 2020

Have you been dying to head down to the Limestone Coast in South Australia, but don’t know where to start? The team at Discovery Parks – Robe have jotted down a few of their favourite places around the park and are keen to share with you.

1.  Humpalicious Camel Farm

Robe now has their very own Camel Farm! Humpalicious Camel Farm is where you can get up close and personal with the camels and try their milk, ice cream, shakes and gelato.

2.  Walk the Coastline

Walking the rugged coastline from our park into town is one of our Caretaker Darren’s favourite weekly rituals. The scenery along the way is just magnificent – be sure not to miss it.

3.  Cape Jaffa Wine Region

Robe surrounds have some spectacular wines, take a short drive to Wangolina, Karatta, Woodsoak or Cape Jaffa just to name a few and experience what they have to offer. Don’t feel like driving? We’ve got that covered; our Groundsman Keith can take you on a morning or afternoon tour in style travelling in his Rolls Royce.Discovery Parks Robe - Rolls Royce Wine Tour

4.  Taste Robe Dairy

Robe Dairy is Park Manager Helen’s pick if you want to enjoy a great Brie cheese. Robe Dairy is a little Family Farm with around 20 Jersey Cows located down the Nora Creina Rd. Here’s where you’ll not only find Brie cheese, but they also make their very own full cream milk, yoghurt and a range of other impressive cheeses. Be sure to have a taste!

5.  Stroll along the Beaches

We’re surrounded by what our Office Admin Jo calls the best beaches in SA. You have the ever popular Longbeach and the Foreshore in town, but it’s our lesser known beaches that make Robe great. Whether you’re looking for a place to swim, throw a rod in the water or walking your pooch, call into the office and have a chat to Jo – she’ll point you in the right direction.Discovery Parks Robe - Coastal Walks

6.  Billy Bob’s 4X4 Tours

If you’re leaving the hustle and bustle behind and want to leap into the wild our Housekeeper Ange suggests going on a journey with Billy Bob’s 4X4 Tours where you can experience our little piece of paradise. He will take you to some of Robe’s gems to capture fantastic views and photo opportunities, including Little Dip Conservation Park, Ange’s favourite spot.Discovery Parks Robe - Billy Bobs 4x4 tours

7.  Shop Transmutation

Transmutation is an interesting place to visit while in Robe. Home of the Bread Tag Bowl and a quirky recycling plant that takes waste plastics and transforms them into useful products. Their most popular items are the bowls and platters made from bread tags - they even supply these bowls for Country Road.

8.  Explore the Rock Pools

Exploring the rock pools on our coastline between Yacht Beach and the outlet with her grandkids is one of our Housekeeper Paula’s favourite pastimes. They also enjoy checking out the Old Gaol and Obelisk. Discovery Parks Robe - The Obelisk

9.  Woakwine Cutting

Woakwine Cutting is a place our Groundsmen recommend is a must see. It’s said to be Australia’s one-man engineering excavation feat. If you ever needed inspiration to have a go at a big landscaping project around the house, then take a visit out to the cutting viewing platform on the Robe to Beachport road. What a sight!

10.  Explore Main Street by Foot

We all agree that taking time out to see our Main Street on foot is where you’ll be surprised with the unique and interesting Boutiques, Eateries and treasures you may find along the way. Be sure not to bypass The Pastry Place for a slice of specialty cake or Loaves and Fishes for that unique gift for someone special.
