Tackle New Year's Resolutions On Great Ocean Road

15 May 2015

Take a look at your New Year’s Resolutions. Chances are you have a list of things you want to achieve this year, things like: spend more time with loved ones, learn new things and exercise more. What better way to complete these than by combining them? A road trip along Great Ocean Road on the way to Geelong, Victoria is all you need to start chipping away at that list.

Stay at Discovery Parks - Geelong for an ideal location that’s close to Geelong City, beaches, cafes and restaurants, as well as the all-important Great Ocean Road.

Where to stay

Plan ahead by booking accommodation at Discovery Parks - Geelong, and make the most of your time with your family while ticking off your personal goals. This waterfront accommodation is located in the beating heart of Geelong, and close to the Great Ocean Road, with arteries leading to amazing beaches, the Geelong Adventure Park and the Old Geelong Gaol, to name a few.

Now, what should you do over the next few days? Here’s a quick itinerary of things to do, using the Great Ocean Road as your lifeline.

DAY ONE

Road Trip to Geelong: Your Great Ocean Road holiday all begins with the drive from Melbourne to Geelong. Be sure to pull in to the Werribee Open Range Zoo for a great holiday experience for you and the kids, or even a bit of fun if you’re a couple. Join a safari tour for really memorable animal encounters, check out the hippos and see the largest gorilla exhibit in the world. If you still have energy after the zoo fun, or maybe you prefer a bigger adrenalin rush, the Geelong Adventure Park is where you need to be.

DAY TWO

Great Ocean Road Attractions: The Great Ocean Road is calling to you, can you hear it? Grab your board and wetsuit and make tracks to one or all of the best surfing beaches located down this beautiful winding road. If you’re not a keen surfer, or you’re travelling with one, take a camera – any camera; disposable, DSLR, instant, mirrorless. There is no doubt that you will capture dozens of great landscape shots or snaps of surfers seemingly flying through waves. Stop at multiple locations, like Torquay, Anglesea or Lorne to immortalise each time of day with film or surf. For an experienced surfer who is keen to try internationally acclaimed waves, go straight to Bells Beach, just past Torquay. The best part of this day on the Great Ocean Road is that you’re combining two great things: you’re learning a new thing and you’re getting in your exercise.

DAY THREE

Great Ocean Road Attractions: The Great Ocean Road day tour should be experienced with your loved ones to get the most out of the views. Two and a half hours west of Geelong is one of Australia’s most raved about natural beauties, the 12 Apostles, found on the Great Ocean Road. On arriving, head to the Visitor Information Centre, where you will get a tailored itinerary for a romantic getaway or family adventure, binoculars or a telescope to appreciate the complete beauty of the 12 Apostles. For a unique, scenic tour, the 12 Apostles Helicopters will take you high over the Apostles, the London Bridge, the Arch and other surrounding wonders. You are guaranteed to be able to cross ‘spend more time with loved ones’ off your list at the end of a day at the 12 Apostles.

Discovery Parks - Geelong gives you access to this fantastic road all the attractions along the way. Book your accommodation today!
