Thanks from Grant - Vinnies CEO Sleepout

Last night Discovery Parks CEO Grant Wilckens took part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout and raised over $17,000 for the cause. Here's a message from Grant for all those who supported him:

I would once again like to say an enormous thank you to all who supported and encouraged my participation in the 2014 St Vinnie’s CEO Sleepout. I am thrilled to announce that after a remarkable last minute surge in donations, we were able to raise a staggering $17,260 for this very worthy cause. That total was the fourth highest in South Australia.

Whilst we certainly experienced a rather chilly night, I was fortunate that it did not rain! Having spent the night doing the CEO version of sleeping rough, I have certainly gained a newfound understanding of the difficulties faced by over 100,000 Australians experiencing these conditions every night.

The event was held in the grounds of Government House last night and it was an amazing experience. I, like many others, had preconceptions about what it meant to be homeless in Australia. Hearing stories from those who have experienced homelessness and who work in this sector was enlightening.

In South Australia, the 105 participants accumulated 4,381 donations totalling $571,909. What an amazing effort for the state. No matter the size of your donation, every dollar helps.
